2013 Summary of Art

Description

I've always wanted to do one of these art summaries, but I never felt like I would have enough artwork to fill one out, but just for the hell of it, I looked to see if I did have enough art this year - and just barely I did. Technically, the art for April was done in May and I had to scrape around quite a bit to find something for other months. I'm not proud of everything on the summary. To say the least, it was an honest eye-opener about how little artwork I did this year. Going through my gallery, there were periods where I didn't have any art for months. Some of these are doodles from my tumblr, but in the future I want at least one polished piece of artwork each month.

On a more positive note, I think my art definitely moved in a good direction this year. I tried lineless coloring for the first time and I think improved using this type of coloring quite a bit. Also, last year I wanted to work on varying my characters' looks: face shapes, noses especially and I think I did a good job at that over the course of the year as well. Some pieces I felt like I succeeded in evoking a mood based on the colors I used, but I definitely have a lot more room for improvement.

So plans for this year? This year I'm going to focus a lot more on art and to do that I'm going to be cutting out a lot of stuff that takes up my time and by that, I mean groups that I run or help run here on DA. More on that later though - I'll be posting a journal shortly about that along with goals for my art this year.
